An Indian Hill High School senior was being hailed as a hero Wednesday night after performing CPR on a baby who was pulled from a pool. It happened at the Camargo Country Club. The baby had no pulse and was not breathing. Ambrose sprung into action, starting CPR as others called 911. Ambrose was able to revive the baby before paramedics arrived on the scene. The baby was found facedown in the baby pool, but details of how exactly the baby ended up in the water were unclear. read more

A baby is in hospital in Sydney’s west with suspected meningococcal disease. The 10-month-old boy is being treated with antibiotics for the potentially fatal disease and is in a stable condition in Westmead Children’s Hospital. The hospital is urging people to remain alert to the symptoms of the disease and to seek medical help immediately if they appear. Symptoms can include sudden fever, a rash of reddish purple spots, severe headache, nausea, stiff neck, dislike of bright light and drowsiness. ATLANTA – Two doctors on a Delta Air Lines flight from Germany delivered a baby in the aisle of the plane and resuscitated him when he wasn’t breathing, officials said. Delta Flight 131 to Atlanta was over the Washington area when a woman about 32 to 36 weeks — or nine months — pregnant went into labor Wednesday afternoon, prompting an emergency stop in Charlotte, N. Though the baby boy wasn’t breathing when he was born, he was “like a normal newborn” by Friday, one of the doctors who helped deliver him said. Using a stethoscope that was part of medical equipment onboard, the doctors realized the baby had a very slow or arrested heartbeat as the woman was in labor. read more

Fla. Man Accused Of Keeping Baby Gator In Toilet (...

A Clay County man was arrested Monday on a misdemeanor charge after sheriff's deputies acting on a Crimestoppers tip said they found a baby alligator in the toilet tank of his apartment, according to WJXT-TV. Officials said Michael Dyer, 22, of Orange Park, gave permission to search his apartment on Arora Boulevard. Inside detectives said the also discovered a dog, a rat, a tarantula and an 8-foot python snake. Hearing the toilet running, Clay County Animal Crime Detective Annie Henderson said she looked inside the tank and found the baby gator. A Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer took custody of the baby alligator and released it into the wild. read more

Department of Human Services has extended an interim accommodation order allowing Catherine to be placed with a foster family until at least June 8. The anonymous woman ended the five-minute call, saying baby Catherine’s mother would call back the next day but no contact was made. The baby, dumped in the dark and cold at a Dandenong Hospital back door in a cardboard box on Mother’s Day, has recovered from breathing problems. DHS spokesman Graeme Walker said the foster family was expected to be awarded temporary custody of the baby for two to three months. read more
