(Baby News) Dying Girl’s Last Wish – A Wedding

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

What the Cooper’s are facing in the coming weeks is what every parent hopes they’ll never have to endure. Every single message board on the internet is filled with hateful comments fueled by shallow, nonsensical and irrevelant issues. God Bess her mom and dad for being there for her when she needs them most thank them for letting her have her wish that was so sweet of you both thank God for parents like you may GOD be with you always and bless you both Mary Martinez from Atwater California. For her parents it is a bitter-sweet time, and my prayer for them and everyone who was involved in this beautiful event is for the comfort and peace in knowing that there was a pure and precious love shared in the life of their daughter. My experience with “alternative” medicine is that it kills children– while they are getting chiropractic treatments that “save” their bodies from side-effects, those fast-dividing, aggressive cancer cells are multiplying and spreading. read more

(Baby News) Angelina Jolie’s Kids Dress Like … Well, Like Kids

Thursday, February 19th, 2009

And you may remember in September of last year, when blogs were buzzing with the news that Angelina had bought daughter Zahara a mini Valentino braided leather shoulder bag (to match the grown-up version she was carrying at the time — then worth $1695 ). Celebrity kids often have a tendency to be little fashion plates — Suri Cruise and her wardrobe of only dresses , for example. On top of that, celebrities — particularly Hollywood moms — make a living looking fabulous, and it can be hard to draw the line between your own style and your childrens’ style. And when you know there will be photographers waiting each time you leave the house — especially if you’re out with the kids — it only makes sense to make sure those kids look fabulous, too. Both girls were wearing basic black leggings, which are practical and comfortable; Zahara topped hers off with an oversized hooded cardigan, while Shiloh was bundled in a dark green pea coat. What I like most about Shiloh and Zahara’s outfits, though, is that they look like kids — Zahara has her hood up, because four-year-olds are like that, and Shiloh’s wispy baby hair is falling out of her ponytail. read more

Baby News – CPSC considers new rules to address crib defects

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Since that time, the agency has conducted five crib recalls due to hardware that was broken or missing or otherwise failed to function properly. While the Early Warning System has been deemed a success in preventing many deaths and injuries, CPSC is now looking at ways to strengthen crib performance requirements to deal with the problems that these recalls have brought to light. To that end, they are now considering an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPR) to “examine and and assess potential design and durability issues and possible mandatory performance requirements to prevent future entrapments and strangulations to children. If approved, the ANPR will seek input and information about hardware systems, other hardware issues, assembly and instructional problems and wood quality/strength issues for cribs with both stationary and drop side construction. When using a drop side crib parents should check to make sure the drop side or any other moving part operates smoothly on its track. Do not try to repair any side of the crib without manufacturer approved hardware or with tape, wire or rope. read more

Baby News – Mom tattoos

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Even in 1994, when my 1 year old son barged in on my sister, who was taking a shower, and saw her undisclosed tattoo of a flower on her hip and excitedly shared with the rest of the family, “Jojo! However, earlier this fall while packed in a hot and airless gymnasium for a school event, a quick look around revealed that I was one of the very few un-inked moms in attendance. There were bear paws on cleavages, butterflies on ankles, curlicues on lower backs, and up-swept hair revealed exotic symbols on the back of necks. Maybe I should consider a tattoo as merely a reminder of what my life at this point in life was like for when I become old and forgetful. It was a rite of passage marker for me (I had moved out of home the year before, still in highschool, when my parents finally divorced and kicked me out and was in grade 13 – since abolished – and 19 is the drinking age here – a big year in my life). It will be a ball of yarn with two needles stuck in it, a scrolled banner overtop will say “I Knit Life” and the yarn coming down the bottom will form my two son’s names. read more

Baby News – David After Dentist – “Is This Real Life?”

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

If you didn’t know poor 7-year-old David had just been to the dentist, you’d think he spent the last two days over-indulging at Burning Man . Gassed to the max from oral surgery, the little guy does his best Cheech & Chong impression while spacing out to an imaginary Grateful Dead soundtrack stuck on repeat in his mind. But the fun turns funky when the youngster sees what I can only assume is an army of flying pink elephants commanding David to “get off of their cloud! The video is a little creepy — should parents be posting videos of their vulnerable children? DUI Not Enough – Mother Adds Grand Theft Auto- About: Baby News

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

Police spotted the sixteen-year-old driving erratically and gave chase, but instead of stopping when he saw the officers, the teen took off and smashed into the dumpster. Instead of making excuses and proclaiming her son’s innocence, she has asked police to add theft of the car to the charges of driving under the influence and driving without a license. This couldn’t have been an easy decision to make — no parent wants to see their child get into trouble.
