Research asserting that social-media platforms erode our moral values was roundly proven wrong last week, after thousands of Twitter members rallied around two mothers whose children unexpectedly passed away. Heather Spohr of Los Angeles and Shana Myers of Edmon, Okla. Many of Spohr’s followers knew 17-month-old Madeline was in the hospital, being treated for respiratory problems exacerbated by the prematurity of her lungs, because she tweeted about the experience in real time — and then she posted notice of Maddie’s passing. Bullied to Death(Baby News)...

They want to shed some light on what they feel is a culture of bullying at Mentor High, to have Eric’s death reclassified as a “bullicide,” and force the school to put anti-bullying programs in place. I speak this and know this as i myself was a victim of intense, savage and furious bullying in my school days back in the 70′s when even the topic of bullying was unheard of. If my child was dealing with unbearable bullying in school, and the school didn’t do enough to stop it, I would pull my child out of that school before I’d subject them to that type of behavior on a daily basis. I found the faculty at the school to be helpful at first, but then they seemed to close ranks to protect the school, instead of my child. I’m sorry, but if the school had stepped in early and viciously on these bullies – I’m talking about allowing their victims to strike back, and FAIRLY issuing discipline, including detentions, suspension, expulsion, and law enforcement if necessary – this promising young man may still be alive. read more

I also find myself wondering why on earth Levi Johnston thought it was a good idea to spill the beans about this whole sleepover thing on “The Tyra Banks Show” — does he think this will win Bristol back, or make her family like him more? Make your arguments for/against abstinence, teen sex, whatever without involving these kids because of Sarah Palin. Good idea , Karen —- Uh, that “next person” was YOU – I know the definition of hypocrite; and when you look it up, you shall find it fits Sarah Palin as if it were custom built just for her. I hope that the world forgets Bristol Palin and her “engagement” – but I hope even more that the world forgets her mother. read more
